Abdul Lateef Akodu

Abdul Lateef Sadiq Akodu (1899) was a Muslim preacher from Epe who was the National missioner of the Ahmadiya Movement in Islam. He was also a writer and scholar on Arabic language.

Life

Lateef was born in Epe in November 1899. He as born to Sadiq Akodu, an Arabic scholar in Epe, Lagos. He went to Government Muslim School, Epe, and the Haroun Rasheed Arabic School. He then started his career as a teacher at the Epe Government Muslim School. He later worked at the British Nigeria Timber Company and was at the firm for three years. He left the commersical side for teaching and missionary work in 1929. He was a missioner of the movement in 1930 and worked as a teacher at the Muslim School in Ijebu-Ode, Islamic School, Ibadan and Ahmadiyya School.
