Adebisi Afolayan

Adebisi Afolayan is a Nigerian academic who was formerly head of the department of English at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. He is also the co-author of two books on the English language, the 'Primary English Method' and 'The Use of English'.

Afolayan was born in Iressi, Osun State and was educated at Baptist School, Iressi. He later attended Baptist College, Iwo and the University of Ibadan. He further earned a diploma at Edinburgh and a post graduate degree from the University of London. He started his career as a secondary school teacher at the Baptist Boys High School, Oyo before going on to teach at the Baptist College, Iwo. In 1961, he briefly taught at the University of Ibadan before becoming a lecturer at OAU then the University of Ife.
