Andrew Abogede was a second republic senator from the old Benue State. In the 1960s, he was a councilor in the Igala Native Authority, (1960-1966). He was also a board member of the Northern Region Development Corporation.
Abogede was born on October 2, 1926 in Emonyoku Ogugu. He was educated at various Qua Ibo Mission Schools at Ogugu, Ankpa-Idah and Alloma. After completing his studies, he joined the West Africa Frontier Force and was in the military for two years. He then started work at the Igala Native Authority in 1945.
During the Nigerian first republic, he was a member of the Northern People's Congress, serving as secretary of the Igala province of the party and later winning an election into the Northern House of Assembly in 1961.
In 1975, he was chairman of the Ankpa Local Government Authority.
