Audu Dan Afoda
Mohammed Audu Dan Afoda was the colonial authority appointed chief of Makurdi from the 1916 until his death in 1946. He was considered a political agent of the District Officers prior to his appointment.
Afoda was of Kwara origin and his grandfather was a Muslim convert. From Kwara, he migrated to Keffi, Bauchi and Yola. He later became an interpreter in the River Benue region and later made the chief of Makurdi in 1916. He was given and abrogated to himself more powers subsequently covering the Tyoshin area.
