Austin Ukattah

Austin Echewodor Ukattah was a member of the Nigerian senate during the first republic and also served as the chairman of the Board of Governors of the Holy Ghost College, Umuahia.

He was born in Oloko to the family of Okoro Abajue. He attended St Theresa's Catholic School, Okigwi and St Charles Training College, Onitsha and later received a Teachers Senior Certificate. In 1946, he became the headmaster of St Patrick's School, Isuikwuato and later that of St Benard's Okwe. As a community leader, he was involved in various affairs in the Olloko and Ikwuano area. He served as the president of the Oloko Improvement Union and was member of the Ikwuano Rural District Council. He was also a member of the NCNC working committee for Eastern Nigeria.
