Balogun traditional signifies a senior grade Yoruba war title. The Balogun is usually a member of the town council. The name is supposedly taken from the Yoruba term Iba-li-ogun meaning Lord of War. During ancient Yoruba times, during war periods, the Balogun held great powers and was beyond all laws, he also enjoys the greater share of war booties.
