Davidson Gbolagunte

Davidson Mokolade Gbolagunte was a Nigerian lawyer and politician from Eruwa, a town close to Ibadan. In 1979, he was elected to the Oyo State House of Assembly where he served as the speaker from 1979-1983. His first foray into partisan politics was in 1959, when he represented Ibarapa in the Federal House of Representatives.

Gbolagunte was born in Eruwa to Gabriel Gbolagunte. He graduated from the Baptist Boys High School, Abeokuta in 1937 and then proceeded to Baptist College, Iwo. From 1948-1951, he attended University College, Ibadan, at the school, he excelled in athletics especially in the 440 yard sprint. He later attended the University of Lagos graduating in 1975.

He started out as a teacher and taught at Ibadan Boys High School before moving on to become the pioneer principal of Ibarapa Teacher Training College.
