Ekundayo E. Balogun is a Nigerian academic and atmospheric physics and meteorology scholar at Obafemi Awolowo University. He was formerly the director of the African Regional Centre for Space Science and Technology Education in English. The centre is involved in four key areas: remote sensing, satellite meteorology and communications and basic space and atmospheric science.
He attended the University of Chicago where he was exposed to the utilization of satellite data for atmospheric studies and wrote his doctorate thesis on satellite observed cloud patterns of tropical cyclones. In the 1970s, he started championing the development of interest in satellite date research and applications.
In 1992, he was appointed as the chairman of a space policy committee established by the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI).
