Elliot Bens

Elliot Sidney Bens was a member of the Nigerian House of Representing from Brass district in the Nigerian first republic. A clergyman by training, he was ordained an Anglican minister in 1953.


Bens was born to the family of Bens Enikigha. He was educated at N.D.P. Schools in Seibiri, Ekowe and Nembe from 1932-1939. He later went to the C.M.S. College, Awka and Trinity College, Umuhia. He was ordained minister in 1953 and thereafter served as a pastor in Brass and at St Peter's Patronage, Sabagreia, in the Upper Ijaw district. He once served as an assistant secretary for the Niger Delta Archdeaconry and chairman of the Education Committee of the Central Ijaw County Council.
