Esin Anwana Esin was a former Nigerian minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Commonwealth relations and was also a regional Minister of Welfare in the Eastern region of Nigeria. Prior to becoming a minister, he was chairman of the Eket County Council and later represented the division in the Eastern Nigerian legislature and at the House of Representatives.
Esin was born on September 5, 1912 to the royal family of Chief John Esin, the title ruler of Oron. He started his education at Duke Town School, Calabar and went to King's College, Lagos. He then proceeded to the Yaba School and studied pharmacy but later went to the University of Edinburgh to study medicine, where he also served as an instructor.
In the early 1950s, he joined the political scene in Oron and subsequently represented the town in the regional house and later in his political career at the Nigerian Senate. He was also a member of the Eastern Working Committee of the NCNC.
