Francis Mbakogu

Francis Uzuegbunem Mbakogu was a member of the Nigerian House of Representatives during the pre-liberation and liberation period. While serving as a member, he was a parliamentary secretary for the ministry of Economic Development.


Mbakogu was born in November, 1926 to the family of Mbakogu Uzoabaka. He was educated at Catholic Schools at Uga, Adazi and Achina. He then attended the St Thomas Training College, Ibusa and received a teaching certificate in 1948 and also in 1952. He started a career in teaching at some Catholic Schools in Fuga and Agenobode and was later a senior house master and lecturer of extra mural studies at Oba. From 1953-1954, he was the history and English master at Metropolitan College, Onitsha. He then taught at New Bethel College and St Joseph's School, Onitsha.
