Iro, Mashi

Mallam Iro was a Nigerian politician who held the title of Iyan Katsina and who was also a member of the Nigerian House of Representatives during the nation's independence period. He was born in 1906 to Zakari Ga'u, who also was Iyan Katsina and the district head of Mashi.

Iro was educated at the Katsina College. He joined the teaching profession and ended up becoming head of the Katsina Middle School from 1932-1949. In the 1940s, he was a member of the Nigerian Legislative Council and was later a member of the Northern House of Assembly.
