Jonah Assadugu was a prominent member of the United Middle Belt Congress during the pre-liberation and liberation period. Prior to joining UMBC, he was a field secretary in the Middle Zone League. He was also an adult education specialist who served as the supervisor of adult education in the Numan native authority and later organising secretary of the University of Ibadan's Extra Mural studies dept.
Assadugu represented Numan division in the House of Representatives in the mid 1950s.
He was educated at S.U.M. Training School, Numan and joined the army in 1940, serving in East Africa and Burma during World War 2. In the 1950s, he was a member of the Numan Town Council, Bachama District Council and Christian Council of Nigeria.
