Muhammadu Gauyama was a former Minister of State in the Ministry of Defense and Economic Development during the nation's first republic. He was also a district head of Mallammadura, Kaugama and Keffin Hausa and held the title of Madawakin of Hadejia.
Gauyama was born in 1915. He went to the Kano Provincial School and the Katsina Higher College. He then worked as an office scribe before becoming a district head. In 1951, he was elected into the Northern House of Assembly and was subsequently nominated to the House of Representatives.
