Suanu Nwika

Suanu Finimale Nwika was an Ogoni community leader and member of the Nigerian House of Representatives in the 1950s who was later head of the Ogoni division of the National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons. As a member of the House, he was a parliamentary secretary to the minister of communications.

Nwika attended a Wesleyan College in Ibadan and then went to Universities in the United States where he earned a B.Sc at Arkansas State College and a Masters at the University of Minnesota. He started his career in teaching at Methodist Mission schools in Nigeria. In 1944, he went to work for the Opobo division of the Native Authority as a treasury supervisor.
