Ernest Nwanolue Egbuna was a prominent Nigerian lawyer and politician from the Eastern region of the country who was a member of the Eastern Nigeria assembly and became the assembly's first speaker. He was also crown counsel and later made senior crown counsel, Eastern Region.
Egbuna was born on August 11, 1911 to Joseph Afamefuna Egbuna. He went to Holy Trinity Catholic School in his hometown of Onitsha and later attended the Government School, Warri and King's College, Lagos. He studied law abroad at the University of London. Though, he brilliant lawyer, he was known more for his involvement in politics as a member of the Legislative Council of Nigeria in 1944 and also as the first speaker of the Eastern Assembly.
