Raymond Akpan Umoh was a first class chief and head of the Ikpe Annang society in the old Ikot Ekpene division. In 1960, he served as a member of the Nigerian senate. A disciplinarian and political leader of their time.

Umoh was a trained teacher and was headmaster for a long period of time. As a chief, he was the head of the Ikpe Annang Local Councils and president of the Ikpe Annang Traditional Chiefs.
