Onyeabo ObiFrom NigerianWikiOnyeabo Obi is a Nigerian lawyer and politcian who was a senator representing Anambra West/Onitsha during the Nigerian second republic. He is a commercial and corporate lawyer by specialization. (1) Obi is also a trustee of the Nigerian Book Foundation and a member of the Board of Trustees of the People's Democratic Party of Nigeria. (2) [edit] Early lifeObi was born on November 20, 1938 in Ogidi to notable community leader Zacheus Obi. He was educated at St Cyprian's School, Port Harcourt, Hope Waddell Training Institute, Calabar, (1951-1955), Northwestern Polytechnic, London, (1958-1959), the London School of Economics and Inns of Court School of Law., (1959-1962). He returned to Nigeria and later started a private practice. [edit] CareerIn 1966, he was appointed as a legal adviser to the government of Eastern Nigeria and later in 1979, he was elected senator. He won the senatorial election for Anambra West scoring about 195, 472 total votes, his opponents were E.O. Ilozua of the NPN, his closest competitor and Chigbo Egbunike, Mokwugo Okoye and E.S.I. Agusionu. He is a former director of the Nigeria Petroleum Development Corporation, (1989-1991).
