Edmund Eronini

Edmund Umez Eronini was a Nigerian politician and former chairman of the Eastern Region Development Corporation. He is also credited as the founder of the first private school in Imo state, the Emmanuel College, Owerri.(1) He is the father of notable physician, Umez-Eronini.

During the independence era, he was a member of the Eastern House of Assembly and later represented the Owerri district at the Nigerian House of Representatives in 1952. Eronini was born in 1903, and attended Government School, Owerri, Hope Waddell Training Institute, Calabar and the Yaba Higher College, where he studied pharmacy. He was one of the earliest Nigerian pharmacists during the time.
