Tunde Salau was a Nigerian student union leader at the Lagos State University (LASU) who was murdered in 2002 by suspected cultists. Prior to his murder, he was a leader of the student government movement in the university which had vowed to eradicate the prevalence of cultism in the college.
Tunde Salau was attacked on his way to write his final examinations at the Ojo campus of the university. His attackers used machetes to cut deep wounds on his head, neck and arm. While in the process of attacking him, a few students tried to save him, but the attackers scared the students by a firing a few shots into the air.
Prior to his murder they were allegations that the student union government was involved in prosecuting cultists with the use of jungle justice which led to the death of some cultists, including a student named Gasby.
