Alfred Osula was a former general manager of the Daily Times and the first Nigerian to achieve the position. He was noteworthy in the Times organisation as the brain behind the group's expansion in the East, he led the increase in circulation from a meagre 300 copies daily to more than 3,000 copies sold daily. His success with the Eastern zone led him to head the paper's circulation as he was a prime fit into the management's desire to make the Daily Times truly national and also profitable.

He joined the staff of the times in 1945 having served as a book binder with the Pilot. He rose within the Times organization to become the first Nigerian deputy managing director.
