Creating new pages

To create a new page, first log in or create an account. Next simply search for the name or title you are interested in. If it does not exist, you will see a result that says "Create this page." Click on the name/title in red and it will open the blank page ready to be created. Place your cursor in the blank space and the page edit menu will appear with options to assist you create your new page.

Introduction to editing

Editing pages is not very difficult at all. Simply click on the "edit this page" tab at the bottom of a page (or on a section-edit link). This will bring you to a new page with a text box containing the editable text of the original page. If you just want to experiment, please do so in the sandbox, not here. You should write a short edit summary in the small field below the edit-box. You may use shorthand to describe your changes, as described in the legend, and when you have finished, press the Show preview button to see how your changes will look. You can also see the difference between the page with your edits and the previous version of the page by pressing the "Show changes" button. If you're satisfied with what you see, be bold and press the Save page button. Your changes will immediately be visible to other NigerianWiki users.

You can also click on the "Discussion" tab to see the corresponding talk page, which contains comments about the page from other NigerianWiki users. Click on the "+" tab to add a new section, or edit the page in the same way as an article page.

You should remember to sign your messages on talk pages and some special-purpose project pages, but you should not sign edits you make to regular articles. In page histories, the [[]] software keeps track of which user makes each change.

With top menu depicted above, click 'Advanced" to open up all editing functions. To upload files with the page creation top menu, click the image tab, then click upload and browse for the image or drag and drop it, save, name it, select desired size...which can be 100-900, add a description and insert into post. We used size 200 for the image below which is the tab for page breaks to start a new sentence on a new line:


Major edits

All editors are encouraged to be bold, but there are several things that a user can do to ensure that major edits are performed smoothly. Before engaging in a major edit, consider discussing proposed changes on the article discussion/talk page. Once the edit has been completed, the inclusion of an edit summary will assist in documenting the changes. These steps will all help to ensure that major edits are well received by the NigerianWiki community.


Upload images with the tab on left menu and copy the image name.

You may add uploaded images with borders by putting the 'name' in the below where "example.jpg" is written. resize by adjusting the "px".



In this example we put "Rock.jpeg" which we got when we "uploaded image" with the tool on the left to replace "example.jpg" and you get the image on right below:

Posting Video

The EmbedVideo parser function is called in either of the following ways:

  {{#ev:service|id}} -or-


  • service is the name of a video sharing service.
  • id is the id of the video to include
  • width (optional) is the width in pixels of the viewing area (height will be determined automatically)

For example, to include the famous "evolution of dance" YouTube video, you'd enter:
