Henry Abaagu
Henry Orovande Abaagu (1923) is a Nigerian educator and politician from Tiv land who was a member of the Northern House of Assembly and the Nigerian House of Representatives during the independence period. In the mid 1950s, he was a prominent member of a faction of the United Middle Belt Congress which then was in opposition to the Patrick Lot led leadership, but he later joined the NPC towards 1960. He also formed a Benue Freedom Crusade to campaign against the merger of Ilorin and Kabba divisions with the Western Region. He was later a senator in the first republic
Abaagu was a member of the Makurdi Native Authority once serving as president. He was educated at D.R.C.M. Missionary school and later began a teaching job in 1943. He was also a librarian from 1946-1948.
