S.C. Nwanze, a Nigerian research engineer served as chief oil palm research engineer at the Nigerian Institute for Oil Palm Research and later its director. While working at the institute, he made some improvements to the Nigerian palm oil industry including the development of ancillary equipment to the stork hydraulic hand press which was a new innovation in the late 1950s and used for palm oil processing. But incentives to promote the stork press yielded little results by the end of the 1960s.
He also wrote on the problems afflicting the pioneer oil mills scheme started in the late 1940s.
