Walwin Holm was a Ghananian born photographer and lawyer who is considered a pioneer in West African photography. He cultivated his interest in photography in Accra at 17 years old and later opened his studio in Lagos in 1896. In 1897, he became a member of the Royal Photographic Society.
However, in 1910, he left for England due to health reasons, while in England he studied law and returned to the country to practice. His son J.A.C. Holm later took control of his photography business.
